This WordCloud was created using all of the text from the newsletter in 2024. Unsurprisingly, the word discount is prominent, along with allied words such as wide, value, and rate, yield, and opportunity. Discounts have remained wide in the sector, but attempts to change that are also incorporated here, with buyback making an appearance, and narrow.
Of course corporate activity was very much to the fore during the year, hence bid, board, approach, deal, cash, vote, takeover, strategy, and exit.
Even so, many of the traditional qualities and virtues of the sector remain, so we note the words growth, dividend, equity, capital, ISA, higher, good, and potential.
